Coast has been helping NLA media access on its new flat fee licence for PR agencies. This licence is easier to understand and allows small agencies like ours to budget more effectively. The CIPR is supporting this new licence, but sadly not the PRCA - the body that traditionally represents agencies.
Perhaps we have worked alongside lawyers for too long, but PROs seem to have a limited grasp of copyright laws, seeing the NLA licence as a 'tax' on their efforts.
David Pugh, managing director NLA media access, said: "In 2014 we responded to an agency request to review our current PR consultancy licences. Working with the PR industry, we believe the new licence will create a simpler system that offers agencies, including smaller ones, simpler administration and greater certainty over their costs."
